Ivo Balinov, Chief Instructor and Founder

Ivo has been fishing for over 34 years. His experience covers North America, Europe and the Caribbean. In addition to his extensive fly-fishing experience Ivo is well familiar with lure and bait fishing, strengthening his ability to assist those making the shift from another type of angling to the art of fly-fishing. 


Ivo is an experienced instructor capable of adapting to everyone's level. He has helped countless people with their first steps into fly fishing while also coaching many  advanced anglers, including several national champions of Canada. He himself has been a successful competition angler with top finishes at major tournaments including team gold and individual bronze at the 2016 Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships.

  • 2014 World Fly Fishing Championships: individual 34th;
  • 2014 Chateauguay Regional: individual and team gold.    


Ciprian Rafan, Instructor

Ciprian Rafan started his fly fishing journey on pressured European streams where catching a fish was a success. This has helped him build exceptional skills and in-depth understanding of river fishing. He is also an advanced lake fisherman. In addition to his extensive fly-fishing experience Ciprian is well familiar with lure and bait fishing, strengthening his ability to assist those making the shift from another type of angling to the art of fly-fishing. 

Ciprian speaks French, English and Romanian.

Ciprian has represented Canada at major international contests including the World Championships in 2015 and the Commonwealth Championships in 2016. He has held various titles at Canadian competitions, including individual gold at the Quebec Championships in 2014 and team gold at the 2015 National Championships.

Alex Baumeister, Instructor

Despite his young age Alex is an accomplished and  experienced fly fisherman. He has introduced many anglers to fly fishing. 

Alex has competed in multiple competitions in Canada and internationaly and has trained with some of the world's best. He has represented Canada at the 2015 World Youth Fly Fishing Championships and has once again been selected to do so in 2017. He is well familiar with a variety of river and lake fishing techniques.
